Getting over a breakup can be one of the hardest things a person can do. I know that may sound overly dramatic but depending on the quality of your relationship some people really do mean the world to us.
When somebody suddenly exits our lives one of the first things that you’ll probably feel is sadness. It can be sadness because it wasn’t a mutual decision or because it was the right (but harder thing to do) but either way this sadness shouldn’t influence your decision making.
Getting back together with someone just because you feel sad is probably one of the worst decisions you can make.
Fear and sadness are a hell of a thing. People don’t like the unknown and the second that your brain realizes that there’s been a huge change you start to feel uncomfortable. The period right after you break up is one of the hardest because you’re fighting off your urges to try and win that person back.
Try to remember why you made your decision and then avoid mentally talking yourself out of it. People are happier when they make a decision and stick to it as opposed to sitting around wondering what if.
This is a great time to try and focus on yourself and setting up some sort of long term goal that you can focus on. It takes 21 days to break a habit and odds are you didn’t build those relationship habits overnight. Give yourself a break and let time take its course.
Your goal is to feel better gradually not to get over someone immediately.
Positivity is going to be one of your biggest tools in this mission. Stay positive and focus on yourself! Don’t compare your healing process to your ex and don’t stalk them on social media. This is time to heal and to learn from your mistakes.
Lean on your friends and loved ones during this hard time and avoid killing yourself over things that have happened in the past!
