If you’ve spent any time in Tiburon, you’ve probably noticed something interesting.
There are successful people everywhere.
Founders. Executives. Investors. Physicians. Entrepreneurs. Retirees who have built incredible lives.
And yet, many of them are single.
At first glance, that doesn’t make much sense.
Tiburon is beautiful. The views are ridiculous. The quality of life is hard to beat. You’re a short ferry ride from San Francisco, surrounded by some of the most desirable communities in Marin County, and living in a place many people dream about calling home.
So why are so many accomplished singles still struggling to meet someone?
It’s a question we hear often.
One of the things people love about Tiburon is also what makes dating difficult.
It’s a small community.
After a while, your social circle starts to feel familiar.
You see the same people at school events, charity functions, yacht clubs, restaurants, fitness studios, and neighborhood gatherings.
That’s great for building community.
It’s not always great for meeting someone new.
Many singles tell us they feel like they’ve already dated everyone they’re likely to meet through their existing network.
Whether that’s actually true or not, it can certainly feel that way.
Many Tiburon residents spent years focused on building careers, businesses, families, and financial security.
Then one day they look around and realize something has changed.
Their friend group is largely married.
The social events they attend aren’t designed for meeting new people.
Work keeps them busy.
The opportunities to naturally meet someone compatible become fewer and farther between.
This is especially common among professionals in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who are navigating dating after divorce or after a long-term relationship ends.

People often compare dating in Marin County to dating in San Francisco.
They’re completely different experiences.
In San Francisco, you’re surrounded by millions of people.
In Marin, people tend to prioritize lifestyle, family, wellness, community, and balance.
Many singles here aren’t looking for endless dating options.
They’re looking for the right person.
That’s a very different mindset.
One misconception is that successful singles spend every evening actively trying to meet someone.
Most don’t.
They’re living their lives.
You’ll find them having lunch at Sam’s Anchor Cafe, meeting friends at Malibu Farm, enjoying dinner at The Bungalow Kitchen, grabbing coffee before catching the ferry, hiking Ring Mountain, walking along Shoreline Park, or spending weekends exploring the waterfront.
The challenge isn’t finding accomplished people.
The challenge is knowing who is actually single.

Many successful singles in Tiburon eventually try the apps.
Some have great experiences.
Many don’t.
One common frustration is that the apps create the illusion of endless choices while producing very few meaningful connections.
People spend hours swiping without getting any closer to the relationship they’re actually looking for.
For busy professionals, that process can quickly start feeling like another part-time job.

Tiburon attracts a certain type of person.
People who value quality over quantity.
People who enjoy being active.
People who appreciate beautiful surroundings.
People who have worked hard to build a life they genuinely enjoy.
Those are often wonderful qualities in a partner.
The irony is that many people arrive in Tiburon expecting dating to become easier because they’re surrounded by successful, interesting people.
Then they discover that meeting those people can be surprisingly difficult.
Despite what some singles believe, there are plenty of exceptional people living throughout Tiburon, Belvedere, Mill Valley, Ross, Kentfield, Larkspur, and the rest of Marin County.
Many are looking for the exact same thing.
Someone to share life with.
Someone who understands where they’ve been and where they’re headed.
The challenge isn’t that these people don’t exist.
It’s that they often aren’t crossing paths naturally.
And that’s why so many accomplished singles in Marin County still find themselves searching.
Not because there aren’t great people here.
Because there are.
Sometimes they just need a little help finding each other.
